For as long as I can remember I have always loved dogs more than anything else in the world. My family are avid dog lovers too. When I was a child I was always playing with the dogs, training (or so I thought!), walking them.
As I grew up, I knew that I would work with dogs, it’s all I ever wanted. “Something with dogs”.
When I left school, I went onto an animal management course at Chichester College. After completing the course I then started working for a kennels, I would care for the dogs whilst their owners were away. It was there I started to learn about dog grooming. As the dogs would quite often need a bath before they went home after their stay with us or the longer haired breeds would need regular brushing to keep the coat from getting knotted or matted.
I then began to take a deeper interest in the dog grooming side of things, I enrolled myself back into college at Chichester, on a dog grooming course. I knew from then I wanted to be a dog groomer! I loved all the different breeds and different hairstyles, all the equipment and the great sense of achievement it gave me.
I started to work as the dog groomer for the kennels and built up my confidence and knowledge.
I then went on the set up my own mobile dog grooming business, I would take all the equipment I needed to people’s houses and groom their dogs in their homes.
I then worked for a couple of independent dog grooming salons along side the mobile dog grooming.
I decided that I wanted to become a stationary groomer, so started my search for a premises! And well, as they say, the rest is history! It seemed fitting to call my business Pepper’s Dog Grooming as that’s the name of my little Jack Russell, AKA Pepper Pig, or Pig for short!
I have been grooming since 2009, and I still love it. It is such an amazing thing to be able to wake up in the morning and love going into work. Not many people get to feel like that.
